Call for abstracts is now open – 17th EUSPR Conference and Members’ Meeting 2026

Call for abstracts is now open – Present at the 17th EUSPR Conference and Members’ Meeting – 15 to 18 September 2026, Dublin, Ireland

We are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for EUSPR 2026 is now open and will close on 30 April 2026. Outcomes will be sent in June 2026.

The EUSPR 2026 Conference will take place in Dublin, Ireland from the 15th to the 18th of September 2026 at Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin.

Our theme this year is “Innovation in Prevention to Support Health Equity” by acknowledging scientific advances (e.g., regarding technology like AI, novel approaches to personalised prevention) and conceptual innovation (e.g., linking climate and health, one health and planetary health) while being mindful of the risks and chances for equitable prevention for all. In prevention science, an investigation of the foundations of safe and healthy living is paramount, and this can only be achieved by addressing systemic inequities and utilizing innovations in a beneficial way.

We invite you to submit abstracts in line with the conference theme, although submissions on all prevention science related topics are welcome, including discussion papers and theoretical and methodological developments. Instructions for authors on the specific characteristics of each presentation format will be available on our website. In addition, all plenary sessions will be broadcasted online.

Each abstract should be about 250-300 words and have the following subheadings as a structure: Background, Authors, Methods, Results, Discussion (except for Pre-Conference Workshop proposals). Please find here more details on the structure for each type of submission.

We invite you to prepare and submit abstracts in the following formats:

  • Project Meeting | On-site
A meeting can be proposed for the pre-conference day (Sep 15). It usually lasts between 3-8 hours, in the morning and/or the afternoon. Therefore, please indicate if your submission refers to a half-day or a full-day meeting. Shorter meetings (1-2 hours) can be also proposed for the conference days (for example, lunch break). Meetings usually involve people working on the same project, development, theme, and are not open for other conference attendees. During the meetings practical issues can be discussed. Each meeting includes at least one meeting facilitator (submitting author), who must be EUSPR member. Meetings submitted should be a good fit to the goals and aims of the EUSPR society. Please also indicate the number of participants that will attend the meeting.
  • Pre-Conference Workshop | On-site
A pre-conference workshop will be set on the pre-conference day (Sep 15). It usually lasts between 3-8 hours, in the morning and/or the afternoon. Therefore, please indicate if your submission refers to a half-day or a full-day workshop. Workshops are quite practical and provide hands-on information and interaction regarding prevention science topics. Each pre-conference workshop includes at least one chair (submitting author). It should be a good fit to the EUSPR conference theme and/or the goals and aims of the society. Please also indicate the number of participants that can attend your workshop.
  • Oral Communication | On-site: A formal, research-based 12-minute-long presentation with a focus on high quality prevention research (including methodology, epidemiology, aetiology, intervention outcomes, implementation, evidence-based programmes and policy, etc.). Talks will be followed by a short Q&A session (3 minutes). Usually, oral communications are grouped together in conference sessions of 60 to 90 minutes (4-6 presentations).
  • Poster | On-site: Research posters summarize information or research concisely and attractively to help publicize it and generate discussion. The poster is usually a mixture of a brief text mixed with tables, graphs, pictures, and other presentation formats. Posters should be in portrait orientation. You can find a Poster Template for your presentation here in “Instructions for presenters”. More information will come about poster presentation dates once the programme is drafted.
  • Campfire | On-site: A campfire is a less structured form of discussion, where usually one or several persons briefly (5-10 minutes max.) introduce the innovative, cutting-edge or controversial topics, ideas, developments or concepts in prevention science and starts a debate about it. And then the presenters act as their own facilitators, inviting comments, insights, and questions from audience members in the room. They last about 60 minutes. In your abstract, please outline how you will engage and involve the audience during your session. This approach will also be subject to scientific review. Please note: Due to limited space at the conference, only few campfire sessions will be accepted and you might be asked to present as an oral communication or poster instead.
  • Symposium | On-site: A symposium includes a chair, three to four presenters, and a discussant (optional). Symposia are scheduled in 60 to 90-minute time slots (4-6 presentations) and should allow for discussion among presenters and the audience. PLEASE NOTE: The symposium is submitted as a single abstract by the chair of the symposium. As chair, please provide a tentative title of the symposium, a short structured abstract (see above) of the entire symposium AS WELL AS the title, authors and abstracts corresponding to each presentation that is supposed to be part of the symposium. Please provide the individual abstracts of the presentations that will form the symposia as an attachment.

IMPORTANT: Abstracts that do not adhere to the proposed structure here, or that declare conflict of interests which might affect the objectivity of research by the scientific committee’s assessment, may be rejected. These provided templates can be used to prepare the abstracts for online submission. Reminder for symposium submissions: please prepare an attachment with the individual contributions that will form the symposium session, which you can upload here in the last step.

The scientific committee will make the final decision to accept or reject submissions. It is also possible that the committee might suggest a change of format (e.g., change an oral presentation to a poster). This is due to limited space at the conference. If you have any questions regarding submission formats, please review the submission guidelines carefully or contact the conference organizers.
