Workshop 2 – Economic analysis and the cost effectiveness of prevention – Introduction to Economic Evaluation of Health Care Interventions

Dr Claire McKenna, Centre for Health Economics, University of York (UK)

Dr Claire McKenna is a Senior Research Fellow in the Team for Economic Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment at the Centre for Health Economics, University of York.  She has specific interests in the use of constrained optimisation methods in economic evaluation, the application of statistical and decision-analytic methods for cost-effectiveness analysis, the use of evidence synthesis techniques and value of information analysis to inform policy decisions in health care.  Claire is currently a member of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Technology Appraisal committee and of the NICE Decision Support Unit.

Ms Rita Faria, Centre for Health Economics, University of York (UK)

Rita Faria is a Research Fellow in the Team for Economic Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment at the Centre for Health Economics, University of York. Rita’s research interests are focused on the methods of economic evaluation applied to health and social care.  She has particular interests on the use of non-randomised data to evaluate interventions and the use of decision models for evidence synthesis and extrapolation. Rita has contributed to several technology appraisals for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
